ACORN Wins

About the Author:  Northeast Pennsylvania born and raised. Family guy, with a few hobbies. (Golf, Guitar, Reef Tanks and always looking for a good glass of Scotch). I've had Zero involvement with politics, but I've never missed a chance to vote or talk smack. I became some what of a political junkie during the great Republican revolution of 1994. The Contract with America was the greatest thing I've ever experienced, well...that and being born. Prior to coming here I spent a lot of time on political newsgroups and forums. Mostly driven by my amusement of the vile hatred for George W Bush. I live for the debate and I'm hoping to find some here.... It’s a done deal, cheating and fraud are the “in thing” this year. What baffles me is the Republicans are trying to keep this election legitimate and once again we are hearing the chants that we are disenfranchising voters.  As a conservative I dare minorities to step up and vote, that is their right and duty as American citizens. The people who are crying “disenfranchised voters” are talking about the felons who can’t vote, dead people and people registering to vote in multiple states.  This is illegal.  There is proven fraud out there this year and nobody seems to be doing anything about it…WHY ?

This just in from the news wire:

The Supreme Court is siding with Ohio’s top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations. The justices on Friday overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio’s top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, faced a deadline of Friday to set up a system to provide local officials with names of newly registered voters whose driver’s license numbers or Social Security numbers on voter registration forms don’t match records in other government databases.

Ohio Republicans contended the information for counties would help prevent fraud. Brunner said the GOP is trying to disenfranchise voters.

Here are more headlines from the last week or so.  Apparently America is perfectly ok with a large amount of fraud in this election, since us Republicans “stole” the last 2 elections.

Angry. That does not quite cover it. P**SED is more like it.I am thoroughly disgusted with Americas slide into a Banana Republic.
God help this nation. And please, dispite this, give us the victory. So they that are frauds will truly know who is in control. In Jesus name.

    • Between the fraud they “we can’t do anything about” and Barry’s missing birth certificate, I feel like our country has literally become derailed.

I really believe we are in for hard times and the children are at the controls.

The Supreme Court was absolutely correct to reject this attempt to keep eligible voters from casting their ballots in Ohio. “Discrepencies” doesn’t equal fraud. Discrpencies arise when people move, or have not updated their new address with the state DMV, etc. The real threat to electoral integrity is not that “Mickey Mouse” was registered so some paid registerer can collect a fee — Mickey isn’t going to vote. The real threat to electoral integrity is real, actual eligible voters being struck from the polls, as the NY Times has documented is happening all over the country. Similar to what happened in Florida in 2000, when hundreds of thousands of Floridians’ votes weren’t counted, and in Ohio in 2004, when thousands of eligible Ohioans were denied their franchise. I’m glad the Roberts court had the integrity not to assist the GOP effort this time around.

    • Roberts ? Wasn’t that the guy Obama voted against ? Guess he was wrong on his qualifications.

The only reasonable way around this is purple fingers and voter identification at the polls. Do you have a problem with that ?

I don’t support people note being allowed to vote, but the rules are simple, one vote for one person. It’s already been shown people have set themselves up to vote more than once…in multiple states. There is possible large scale fraud going on and there is no reason we shouldn’t peruse these claims.

So if you say thousands of eligible Ohioans were denied their right to vote, who where they, where did it happen and who went to jail for it ? I’ll be looking for your answer.

As always thank you for your thoughts.

On voter suppression in Ohio in 2004, entire books have been written on the subject, but I’ll give you one example I’m personally familiar with. In Columbus, the Franklin County Board of Elections determined that 5,000 machines were needed for election day, but then decided to go with 2,866 machines — and decided to move the limited machines from urban areas (heavily Democratic) to suburban areas (Republican). As a result, thousands of urban voters waited for 4 hours and more to vote, and newspapers reported interviewing hundreds who left because they couldn’t wait any longer.

This time around, the Obama Voter Protection unit will staff Ohio with hundreds of lawyers — including me — who will try to minimize Ohio’s notorious efforts every four years to keep minority voters from casting votes.

I’d be fine with a purple thumb. The ID proposals would depend on whether they have systems to insure that poor and minority voters (who often don’t have photo ids) are not kept from voting.

As for Judge Roberts, even a broken clock is right twice a day! Only kidding — I admire the guy, though he wouldn’t have been on my list for the court.

    • It’s just simply amazing to me that with all the technology in this world we can’t get it right when it comes to voting. Do a little root cause analysis and I bet you’ll find out it’s because we live in a 2 party world, engulfed in corruption. Do you have a problem with term limits for Senators and Congressman ? I would love to see the 2 party system that we have backed into come to an end.

Are you as concerned about the McCain absentee ballots being disqualified in Ohio by a Democrat Secretary of State ? Are you a lawyer for America or a lawyer for Obama ?

I’ll agree with you on the voter ID cards and the purple thumbs but why does it always have to come down to is it fair for poor and minorities. What I mean by that is, if the Voter ID thing is done right we shouldn’t have to worry about who’s a minority. AND WHEN THE RULES ARE MADE AND HOW AND WHEN TO GET THE ID’S THE RULES ARE FOLLOWED AND NOT CHANGED.

At the end of the day we’re all Americans and quit frankly it’s our responsibility to go and vote. I waited in line for 1.5 hours in 2004 and in 2000 1 hour. I wanted to leave but I didn’t. Was the local Democrat machine trying to suppress my vote ? I live in a conservative area. (very small)

I also have a problem with any party going into poor minority neighborhoods and dragging the folks out to vote. It’s unethical. Money is changing hands, cigarettes, favors… Even if that’s not happening it has the appearance of being unethical.

It all comes down to our broken corrupt system and I believe you know that. Again if Ohio is suppressing votes then I expect to see REAL law suits and REAL arrests in 2008/2009. NO VOTER should be kept from the polls, but then again NO VOTER should be given special treatment because of race or social status for political gains.
