New Tactics in the Battle For Free Speech
I was looking at one of my old posts that had a ridiculous Obama Youth video on it. Unfortunately, Word Press video postings are linked to the url from You Tube. If You Tube takes down a video, you the viewer have been cut off from a source of information.
There is one way around that. I am uploading videos that get yanked from You Tube to my own web sites. This way, the video is independent of You Tube’s editorial decisions. It is not as visually appealing, but it is ultimately less restrictive.
The video that keeps vanishing from You Tube is a Saturday Night Live skit that deals with the financial crisis. In addition to giving the Democrats their share of blame, it also pokes fun of George Bush for letting Democratic attacks go unanswered. Like any caricature, it is subject to more relaxed standards of accuracy. In many ways, it has a ring of truth as it lampoons Democratic arrogance and complicity in the current crisis.
Blogs have vastly changed the media landscape in favour of grass roots free speech, but we still have to be vigilant so that our voices are not silenced.
I apologise for the inconvenience to my readers, for the extra click that will be neccesary, but this step is needed in some instances to protect your access to information.
