There is a transcendent quality to a value system and a nation. America has a history of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and a wide assortment of religious youth groups. These groups inculcate behavior and values that lead to good conduct and citizenship. They provide a peer group in which values can be shared and lived by.

America does not have a tradition of political party youth groups. This is for good reason. Those who share a common religious value system or sense of nationhood should be learning how to tolerate some significant differences of opinion. Families, churches and scout troops should learn to tolerate differences.

Videos of Obama youth groups have an eerie resonance for immigrant citizens whose political education took place under communism and fascism. Those who were born in this country also have a deep distrust of the cultishness of the Obama campaign. The signal it sends about the direction our country would take under Obama as president is a disturbing one indeed.

The top and bottom videos show Obama Youth singing songs and chanting chants that have been scripted for them. In the top video the young men are chanting “Alpha, Omega” repeatedly. These are Greek letters that when recited together often have religious significance. As the video goes on , the young men thank not G-d but Obama for their sense of direction. For many, this bears an uncomfortable resemblance to idolatry. As they become a part of this new group identity, what are they leaving behind? What is their new found faith replacing? How will they relate to those whose visions of happiness differ from theirs? America should not become a nation of fractious party youth groups. Obama has given us a sneak preview of his vision for America. We should put a stop to it on Election Day.
