There is a disturbingly thuggish tone to the Obama side of this election. More and more, we read and hear threats of what violence will take place when McCain wins the election. Is this ill-mannered hyperbole, or should we lock and load as the votes are counted?
Recently I received by cc an e-mail written by an acquaintance who is avidly pro-Obama, containing the following verbiage:
If they steal this one from us, and i am still around, i will lead the revolt w/ my grand daddy’s winchester automatic plug out and 10 in. We have had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take your morality and shove it!!!!
Strong stuff. I took this as rash hyperbole, and not as a personal threat, but there seems to be a mind-set at work which many Obama supporters share. [For the benefit of city folk who may need a translation: "winchester automatic" is a shotgun which holds 10 shells and has a mechanism which loads the next shell when the previous one is discharged; under current law, such a firearm must have a plug in the shell housing which limits it to 5 shells, so "plug out and 10 in" means that the plug will be removed (it's only a piece of wood dowel rod) and the shotgun will be loaded with 10 shells.]
If this were simply a matter of Barack Obama having, as Bill Clinton said, “the political instincts of a Chicago thug,” it would not be so disturbing. After all, the voters in most parts of this country don’t like or vote for liberal Chicago political thugs. But this campaign has an underlying, sinister tone which I have to come believe presents real dangers.
Do I believe that Barack Obama and his campaign staff will resort to violence in the event of a loss? Certainly not. Whatever else may be said for or against them, they are not stupid people. Do I believe that some of the true believers among the Obama supporters will resort to violence in the event of a loss? To put it bluntly, yes.
This situation has its roots in three phenomena. One is the myth of the “stolen” elections of 2000 and 2004. The second is the deliberate use by the Obama campaign of charges of racism as a political tactic. Finally, there is the deliberate use by the Obama campaign of threats and intimidation, such as the recent incidents in Missouri. Mix these three elements and you have an explosive concoction.
The pro-Obama media folks insist on stirring this brew. Matthew Rothschild, writing in The Progressive, Racism and the Race, clearly sets out the left-wing formulation:
The race boils down to racism. All things being equal, Barack Obama would win the presidency hands down.

If Barack Obama loses the 2008 election, liberal hell will break loose. Seven weeks before the 2008 presidential election, liberals are warning America that if Barack Obama loses, it is because Americans are racist. Of course, that this means that Democrats (and independents) are racist, since Republicans will vote Republican regardless of the race of the Democrat, is an irony apparently lost on the Democrats making these charges.

At this point, the threat of violence is mostly speculative. See Fox Radio host wonders whether blacks will riot if McCain loses; Will there be violence if McCain is elected? I say “mostly” because there was actual violence at the Republican National Convention. Political riots in the United States are rare, but such things do happen, even here. See Bloody Monday (1855); Know-Nothing Riot of 1856. So, yes, there is reason for concern. Most of these loudmouths are run-of-the-mill wing nuts, but some may use an Obama defeat as an excuse to riot.

Speaking of thuggery, I have also noticed an unprecedented nasty tone in the voter phone calls made on behalf of the Obama campaign. Since my husband is registered as an independent and since we live in a swing state, we often receive calls from both campaigns. The Obama campaign calls have a ridiculous smear focus as opposed to an issues focus. They take a warning tone, accuse McCain of being willing to do ANYTHING in order to win the election, and urge the voter to be on their guard against McCain’s vicious (yet un-named) lies that are about to be unleashed about Obama. What? What type of voter actually finds this to be an appealing, effective approach to winning their vote? Contrast this with McCain phone calls that focus on educating the voter about McCain’s stands on the issues of importance in this election. The difference in the two campaigns’ approaches makes the choice in this election just that much more apparent.
It will be a sad day in American history if violence ensues a McCain victory. That said, I am ready to be a patriot and will gladly protect my country and family with my collection of shotguns.
Thuggery!!!!!! As a Navy Cryptologist from 1958-1967 I gathered intelligence on the Socialists. We now have a Socialist controlled Media, Socialist controlled House and Senate and A Socialist running for President. This is what the Socialists do. They make all kinds of allegations against their opposition, and keep repeating them..Tell a lie till it becomes truth. They with the help of the media which they control ruthlessly attact anyone who disagrees with them.
The statement Obama made….”we need a National Civilian Security Force, just as strong, just as well trained, just as well equipped, and just as well funded as our military.” This was not a misstatement he was just looking ahead till when the rioting starts because of food and energy shortages he will create, he will be ready to impose police rule. This is haw the Socialists have operated for decades. Taking a country over from within is less expensive than armed conflict.
Interesting article! Wanted to make a correction though… Shotgun magazines can hold “4″ shells. With a shell in the chamber, one can effectively take 5 shots before reloading. Adding the plug reduces the number of shells in the magazine from 4 to 2. Duckhunters are required to use a plug in their shotgun and I’ve been hunting ducks since the lat 60’s. In season of course! :mrgreen:
A post script to my last post…Google Chicago’s “New Party” which helped Obama get elected. Also Google Frank Marshal Davis, Obama’s mentor in Hawaii from the time he was 12 years old till Davis died in 1987. Obama was selected, taught, given the necessary false documents and background and nutured to become the “Puppet” leader of the United Socialist States of America since he was 12 years old.
Hate to sound alarmist here, but I think we’re in for riots irrespective of the outcome. Obama released the race-card genie from the proverbial bottle and it has created such an incendiary atmosphere that I believe, win or lose, the true believers will riot. If they lose, I fear for our cities burning, without any real end in sight. Can any of us who have watched Obama really believe that he has the capacity to lead people away from the path that he led them down? But if he wins, I fully expect ‘celebrations’ to turn into riots, given the in your face nature of the believers, and Obama’s own message to them to get in the faces of McCain supporters. The ones I interact with can barely contain themselves currently. The tension is just going to continue to rise.
I have seen three McCain signs destroyed or vandalized in my town. Not one Obama sign damaged as far as I can see.
I would be interested in other people’s observations on this.

I just read your June 22nd article on Racism. (Left a comment there). It seems that the ‘good’ Senator has left such a trail of habit and pattern behind him since he started campagning. So much so that a grade school kid could follow the method to his maddness. What I have noticed in all this time following the US election. Is that IF he wins. Socialism will become the ‘norm’. But what amazes me is how blind people are to this man’s thuggery dance. And what is with this overall attitude that a no vote for him makes you the voter a racist bigot? By default? Jay, here is a question for you I would like to see you (maybe) do an article on: If Senator Obama is nothing but a puppet (to be placed in the White House). Then WHO is the Real Puppet Master?
