Barack Hussein Chavez Mahmoud Obama
doesn’t want anyone getting distracted with divisive character attacks and lies such as William Ayers, Tony Rezko or that guy on YouTube, Larry Sinclair that claims to have snorted coke and performed oral sex on Barack.  You can also throw in attacks on his tax and spend record, or his positions on gun control, Iraq funding, etc.  Whatever he doesn’t think is fair (misleading).

According to FederalReview.com

On Tuesday (September 23), CBS affiliate KMOV reported that Obama had enlisted a number of Missouri law enforcement officials, including local sheriffs and prosecutors, “to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading television ad [against Obama] during the presidential campaign.”

(Yet another ‘Update’) Michelle Malkin reports on heavy handed tactics that took place at a rally in Virginia where the Obama campaign bullied their way to a sign ban on public property.

(Update) Thanks to Lonely Conservative for pointing to the MO Gov’s press release regarding this:

Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

  • Did you see Governor Blunt’s response?

I’ve had a moonbat at my site all day. Jay gave him a nice smack down. It’s funny, he was made reference to a Bush/Cheney police state. Good grief, what does it take to get these people to open their eyes?

  • Paul Zannucci says:

Great job, NEPA. This is a part of the culture of the left that is so terrifying. They seriously see going after dissenting opinion as a noble and right cause.

(Editor’s Note: I think this comment ended up under the wrong post. Have copied it here).

As a lifelong Democrat and a former strong supporter of Barack Obama, i am dismayed and disturbed that this candidate and my party are engaging in these disgusting and anti american tactics to supress and intimidate free speech and political discussion in the land that i love.

This is not acceptable under any circumstances and has strongly shaken my belief in my party and the candidate they have put forth.

I strongly urge other democrats, atheist and treehuggers to take a good hard re-look at this man and where he comes from and who his associates are and how he is handling this issue.

I like many of my freinds in the democratic party bought the fairytale told to us by them that Obama was the right choice until i started investigating the many facts in his very disturbing background, facts the main stream media chooses to not cover and not investigate.

I urge my friends to think very carefully about putting this very dangerous man and his very un-american friends in power. We already had one George Bush neophyte in power we dont need another.

Barack Obama is dead wrong for America.

Remember friends, we may not like the republicans but if taking away their rights to speak out against our candidate and threatening them with the police is acceptable now and promoted as a legitamate tactic by this candidate, what will happen to your rights when he gets in office?

America, this lifelong democrat is voting for John McCain, because i value my country and my constitution. Fellow democrats, grow some balls. THis is not what we believe in. It never has been before and it should not be now.

  • BA says:

Glad to see the addition of Mr. Blunt’s statement.

Personally I think the matter is too important to inject weakening arguments, e.g. Larry Sinclair.

This is something Amnesty International and other recognized Human Rights organizations have been condemning as occurring in foreign territorial countries (see their annual reports).

    • Paul Zannucci says:

BA, I think NEPA did a fine job. He’s kind of like Chuck Norris, you know. He can simutaneously drink 8 beers (which explains some of his English problems), down two pizzas and slam Obama in the gut at the same time. When he logs on to blog, Windows asks, “Would you mind a fatal error, sir? Sorry, sir. Nevermind.”

And just being honest and serious for a moment, I’m actually beginning to wonder if we don’t need to go pay Larry Sinclair a little visit.

      • BA says:

What one should look at is Obama’s birth certificate, and the Bagdad discussions (Logan Act and the New York Post).

Larry Sinclair does not have any evidence. To my knowledge, three people have looked at his case with an open mind, Mondoreb, Victor and another blogger, and every one of them came to the same conclusion, namely that Sinclair had no case. If you need more information, let me know.

I’m not saying Obama is clean, I’m only saying that Sinclair is not a good means to get at it. Pastor Manning might be. This Manning is not crazy and he has access to information Whites don’t have.

        • Paul Zannucci says:

We’ve hammered the Logan Act as much as we can right now. We’ve got a letter campaign going, we sent news out to dozens of blogs, and we have other things in the works.

I don’t know anything about the whole birth certificate thing. Much like Sinclair, I always just assumed that was more tinfoil hat stuff.

There are a couple sides to the Sinclair story I’m interested in, and I’ll get up to date on the birth certificate stuff.

As far as I’m concerned, everything has now become fair game.

        • BA says:

          Larry Sinclair:

This article got listed on ReaderArticles.

Birth certificate: one or two articles get on ReaderArticles every week or so. There is a court case, and Obama has filed a motion to dismiss earlier this week.

One has to sift through some nonsense, but there is something lurking in the details, and it’s not the proverbial devil.

        • BA says:

As to fair game, Wright is, according to Mr. McCain.

        • Paul Zannucci says:

          Thanks, BA

      • I like beer and pizza ? How uncivilized sir. ! That would be cold beer and pizza with pepperoni !!! AND my Engrish is just fine tank you.

  • BA says:

I meant totalitarian countries, of course.

  • Thanks for the update. This story needs to go viral!

  • I’ve had a busy day over at TLC so I put a link to this post over there. The Kool Aid drinking Obamabots will just ignore yet another piece of damning evidence against their Messiah.

  • Obama has turned this campaign into a free speech issue. The parameters of free speech are a basic issue. Any sensible citizen is loathe to tamper with them. I personally am likely to crank up the heat of my criticism as a defiant response to Obama’s latest stupidity. I’m sure that millions of others intend to do likewise

  • cookiegramma says:

For a supposed constitutional law professor Obama certainly seems to have a problem understanding what the rights protected by that great work actually are. Trust me, many of those former Clinton supporters are already all over this, it is not the first time Obama’s campaign has attempted this. The only problem before was that it was in party fighting and no one else was paying attention, certainly not the msm. Any and all complaints made about this were chalked up as racism. The only spot of light I find in the problem is that his campaign would not be pulling this if they were not petrified that he is losing despite polling numbers. The word about what he is allowing or even promoting does need to get out though, and in states where he believes he already owns the lead. One thing people know is that they value their freedoms and that couold work against him.

  • Malkin is posting that the Obama campaign banned signs at a rally in Virginia today. People are hot about it. He’s a little dictator - wanting to be a big dictator.

Can you believe that sheriffs are involved in this?

I did some checking on Berg’s case on Obama’s birth certificate. Here is the link: http://obamacrimes.com/

First, I was not that impressed by Mr. Berg. He has some unresolved issues, let us put it that way. And I just cannot grasp that a lawyer involved in such an important issue will be asking for donations a la Larry Sinclair. A lawyer should be able to use his own money or time to do something he belives is useful to others. In any event…

Second, the statement of claim is much better than the statements filed by, or on behalf of, Larry Sinclair, which were not very good, to be nice about them.

Third, the technical issues are quite complex - USA, UK, Kenya, Indonesia - and probably above Mr. Berg’s pay grade.

Fourth, the Republicans probably know the answers. Fact Check has already admitted, virtually on Obama’s behalf, that Obama was also a Kenyan national. Apparently he is no longer. Obama was listed as having Indonesian nationality on Indonesian school records. This information was available since January and emerged some weeks ago. There was a plausible denial story published I think by Washington Post in January.

  • BA - it seems really simple. Obama just needs to release his birth certificate. He hasn’t done so. What can be the problem if he really has one?

FactCheck may not be reliable. They are owned by the Annenberg Foundation. I agree that Berg is a strange guy. Having said that, we need to know that Obama is a citizen.

How easy should this be? Why would anyone need to file a lawsuit. It should be known without a doubt that there is no question of his citizenship.

I called my Republican Senator’s offices. Staff at both offices told me it was the Senators’ opinion that Obama is a natural-born citizen. Neither could tell me why they thought that.

I appreciate your research. I guess we’ll just hang out and probably never know definitively. Thanks much.

    Maggie
