The Merde-Mavens Of Manhattan
From a McCain Democrat’s Journal, September 13, 2008
Like many in the mainstream press, the writers at the New York Times have come unhinged following the nomination of Sarah Palin to be the Republican VP candidate. Their rantings have become so predictable than the headlines could be written a day in advance. But I have a news flash for the merde-mavens of Manhattan: pack it in, folks; your credibility is shot.
[Brief explanation: "merde" is a French word which means "crap;" "maven" is derived from a Yiddish word, meyvn, and means "one who is experienced or knowledgeable," or "an expert".]
So it took no special omniscience to predict that the Times and other MSM pro-Obama mouthpieces would take the ABC News interview of Sarah Palin as a cue to pronounce her unfit; see Keeping The Faith: Sarah Palin Faces Down The Audacity Of “Hubris”. The stage was dressed by liberal merdista Paul Krugman, starting with The Resentment Strategy, in which he asserts that the Republican party is “selling . . . the pure politics of resentment,” followed by an attack piece titled “Blizzard Of Lies.” Of course, Krugman denounces the McCain campaign as “dishonest” while lavishing vapid praise on Barack Obama (”the very qualities that inspire many fervent Obama supporters — the candidate’s high-flown eloquence, his coolness factor . . .”), outwardly oblivious to Obama’s documented history of prevarication which led even his once-beloved pastor, Jeremiah Wright, to gently but firmly denounce Obama as a liar.
The garnish for this pile of manure was provided today by an op-ed piece with the title (and, yes, you could have written it yesterday) “She’s Not Ready,” in which Bob Herbert makes perfectly clear from the git-go what he thinks of us unwashed rustics who support Sarah Palin: “I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail.”
“Dimwittedness.” “Stupidity.” “Ignorance.” And yet, these overweening toadies get all fratchy and huffy when we refer to them as “elitists”??? Evidently the current Times definition of “op-ed” is that one’s “ed” is “op” where the sun don’t shine.
As it seems that I am to dimwitted and ignorant to have an intelligent opinion on the matter, I will defer to Charles Krauthammer, who is not a Palin fan but who appears to have retained his sanity; I recommend that you read his piece, Charlie Gibson’s Gaffe, in which he very diplomatically describes the Times’ reporting as “rubbish.”
Well, I must be off to tend my arugula patch . . . .

The MSM must believe we are all stupid…while watching the Palin interview we could tell it was edited…we just didn’t know how bad until they were exposed…The NYT…well that has become trash…I read a piece at the NY Post suggesting Palin take along her own camera for interviews, sad that it has come to that in America, but it may be a good idea from this point on during this election.
30Y: Oh, now, they don’t think we’re all stupid. Some of use are just “dimwitted.”
Yes, I read the New York times, Hebert piece on dimwits…
I find it just astounding that any newspaper would call non-liberals Dimwitted… Talk about insulting!
I guess we should all feel honored when the Democratic Elites deign to even notice us ‘Dimwits’. Disgusting…
I’m getting confused. Are we dimwits now? Last week we were resentful. Oh, and don’t forget that we’re also white trash. Dimwitted, resentful, white trash! Welcome to our club.
There may be nothing more frightening to these arugulistas than the thought of a dimwitted, resentful redneck clinging to a 12-gauge pump shotgun.
