Statement By McCain Campaign On Faith Based Initiatives
ARLINGTON, VA – U.S. Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign today released the following statement from campaign spokesman Brian Rogers on faith based initiatives:
“John McCain supports faith based initiatives, and recognizes their important role in our communities. He has co-sponsored legislation to foster improved partnerships with community organizations, including faith-based organizations, to assist with substance abuse and violence prevention. He also believes that it is important for faith-based groups to be able to hire people who share their faith, and he disagrees with Senator Obama that hiring at faith-based groups should be subject to government oversight.”

Attention Sen. McCain:
Greetings, sir.
I was recently reading a response by Sen. Obama regarding salvation.
In answer to the question of whether he believed Jesus is the only way to salvation, he is reported to have replied:
“Jesus is the only way for me. I’m not in a position to judge other people.”
I would like to give you, Sen. McCain, an opportunity to answer that same question, if you would.
Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation?
I’m hopeful the blog admin will get this message to you.
Blessings.

Well, I don’t get very close to John McCain. I pass emails back and forth occasionally with a lady who reports to the web media director. I’ll pass this question to her.
I can tell you that John McCain is a committed Christian who attends a Baptist church, who has gotten into trouble for referring to this country as a Christian nation, who was considered the pastor of the Hanoi Hilton when a POW in Vietnam, leading frequent services for the POW’s, and who says that faith plays a great part in his life and that he prays every day.
As he is a strong Christian, I suspect that he would answer this question in the affirmative as that is well-established theology.
John McCain also wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and has been the keynote speaker for the creationist organization, The Discovery Institute.
By the way, just as a personal note. I find that Obama’s response was fairly lacking, don’t you?
Obama’s answer spoke volumes, to me, Paul.
He left it wide open, by implication, that there are multiple paths to salvation.
That’s not scriptural, its irresponsible, and its an horrible example of leadership.
Thanks for the reply and I hope to hear a direct answer from Sen. McCain.
Blessings.
